Patchy Fog

Subsequent images of the desert in fog will not be captioned
We got a lot of rain yesterday afternoon, the result of which was a completely moisture-laden atmosphere.  Local meteorologists last night were predicting fog for this morning, and they were right.  When Becca and I drove to Tortugas Mountain for our daily trek we had to pass through patches of dense fog, but once out at the mountain it began to lift.  Little did we know, though, that the fog was toying with us.  Twice during our excursion a cold wind picked up and swept more fog our way.  In between the foggy waves the weather was sunny and bright--really weird conditions for a mid-winter hike in the northern Chihuahuan Desert.

At this point in the hike we thought the fog had dissipated

Beautiful, eerie photos of the fog. And those birds you photographed seem to have real personalities.
