A Good Break

One way up the mountain
Despite the morning rain Dr. K and I got an early start on a long hike west of Tortugas Mountain, fully convinced (because of weather radar) that we'd get soaked sometime during our trek.  We got a lucky break, though, and only felt a sprinkle or two during our outing.

There were hardly any other outdoor enthusiasts on and about the mountain, but we did see several hikers climbing the mountain road, and we had one direct encounter with a biker west of Tortugas.  When we got back to the Sunset Area, however, things had picked up significantly, and there were quite a few vehicles in the parking lot and also five or six lining the entrance road.

Because we felt certain we'd get rained on I didn't take my main camera (the Canon) along, but instead carried a Panasonic Lumix on the hike.  It takes OK photos, but I'm never completely happy with them, especially in low light.

That might not be the best camera in the world, but you took some good photos this morning, especially the ones where the sun is coming through the clouds.
