Friday's Long Trek

Early start
Becca and I got a really early start this morning, hiking in the shade for a good while before the sun broke over the mountain.  In the first section of the hike, which runs along a deep arroyo, the temperature was at least ten degrees cooler than in the higher elevation.  When we finally got up into the sun it was evident we'd be heading for a hot late-September day.  We'll reach 92 F.  During our whole long trek we saw only one jogger heading around the mountain.  The solitude is always nice.
