Early start |
Becca and I got a really early start this morning, hiking in the shade for a good while before the sun broke over the mountain. In the first section of the hike, which runs along a deep arroyo, the temperature was at least ten degrees cooler than in the higher elevation. When we finally got up into the sun it was evident we'd be heading for a hot late-September day. We'll reach 92 F. During our whole long trek we saw only one jogger heading around the mountain. The solitude is always nice.

Desert marigolds image with the Organ Mountains in the back is spectacular!
I agree with Scott--that's a great photo.
Scott and Dr. K: thanks for the compliments.
