Before Heading Down Mountain

We took one last 1 1/2-hour hike on the Osha Trail outside of Cloudcroft, promising to remember the cool-temperature feeling we experienced prior to returning to the furnace of the Chihuahuan Desert below, where it was 95 F at noon.  We got back to Las Cruces at 1:00, and are already pining for the Ponderosa Pines of the high country.  We'll just have to wait.

Too bad you had to go back to Las Cruces so soon. Hopefully you'll get back to High Rolls soon!

It's 100 degrees today, so we really miss the high country now.

Any idea on the ID of that yellow flower? It's got an interesting architecture.
