Brink of Week's End

Willow and Frio
We're supposed to hit 105F or 106F today, at least ten degrees above normal for this time in June.  It felt pretty hot this morning as Frio, Willow and I headed up to Second Arroyo.  Not long after we crossed Tellbrook Arroyo I noticed the man and woman we've bumped into a few times lately coming up from behind.

We made it into Second Arroyo before they overtook us, explored further into the arroyo than usual, crossed over into First Arroyo and stayed there quite a while--all in an effort to avoid running into the hikers.  To no avail.

As we were leaving First Arroyo we noticed the man and woman heading our way.  Eventually I took the Heelers off the road so they'd stop looking back at the couple every few seconds.  As the two trekkers passed the woman said to me, "What's wrong, they don't like people?"  I explained my motive in taking them off road, and we then waited a long while to let the two humans put a lot of distance between themselves and us.  Afterward we took our time hiking back into the upper flatland.
