Century Mark or Bust

Smoky in the desert this morning
It was distinctly unpleasant in the desert this morning; the air was not only filled with smoke, but smelled strongly of the white stuff.  I can only imagine it's coming from the fires in the Gila National Forest.

Smoke wasn't the only problem, though; the sun beat down relentlessly, and the temperature was soaring.  Fortunately for Willow, Frio and me an obligingly large cloud floated over old Sol blocking the rays for two-thirds of our trek up to Second Arroyo and back.

Unfortunately the sun reappeared just as we started up LDR for the upper flatland.  By the time we reached our vehicle all involved were sweating, Heelers from their paws, me from my face.

This & the next:  cloud that made 2/3 of our hike bearable

This & the next:  Frio and Willow

Thank you, cloud
