Excessive Heat

This and the next 2:  Heelers in First Arroyo
Saw a familiar SUV parked at the side of Tellbrook when Frio, Willow and I pulled into the dirt road where we park our CR-V.  I knew the vehicle belonged to Mr. and Mrs. Big Hat, who we haven't seen in months; and, in fact, we ran into them when we were about halfway up to First Arroyo on LDR.

We stepped off the side of the road to let them pass, exchanging morning salutations as we did.  Well, Frio didn't say anything, but Willow whined as her way of greeting the hikers.

We entered the arroyo and found a shady spot to rest and drink water.  After a short respite we turned around and headed back to the upper flatland.  The heat was excessive this morning, the desert floor like a skillet.

According to my weather app we're supposed to reach 108F today, but on the news last night Doppler Dave on KVIA said we'd be 104F.  Either way it's too damned hot in our section of northern Chihuahuan Desert.

I really like the last photo, "The Long Dirt Road." I'm glad Willow and Frio get lots of opportunities to rest in the shade.
