Back to Form

The first I've ever seen the observatory doors opened
Becca and I did a long hike west of Tortugas this morning, thoroughly exploring one of the major arroyos that runs out of the mountain's western face.  It's great to get off the beaten path and peruse these often dry riverbeds; the number of wildlife tracks to be discovered is simply astounding.  The advantage to bushwhacking is that it almost always guarantees that you'll run into no other hikers.  Most people stick to the trails in the area immediately around the mountain.

All of these photos are outstanding. I especially like the last one of the sting leaf.
