Long Trek to Bridal Veil Falls
This morning we did a 6.5-mile hike (round trip) to Bridal Veil Falls (no, not that one, though we've been to Yosemite). The weather was not cooperative--windy and drizzly (at times). We got spat upon by the precip, but never enough to get wet. It was quite an enjoyable hike, nevertheless. The falls was running pretty forcefully, and there was nobody else around to spoil the solitude. We made certain Becca jumped over a narrow section of Fresnal Creek on both crossings because we don't want her to get Giardia. She's had it before--not a pleasant parasite to have.

Despite the weather, it was a great hike.
OK, Packrat: "...pretty forcefully" is a bit subjective, but the images from your walk were nice.
A few years ago, Kali and I went on a guided horseback trip near the Bob Marshall Wilderness in Montana. When we camped for the evening, the cowboy guide responsible for making dinner dipped water straight out of a creek and made lemonade for the group. I asked him, incredulous, "Aren't you going to filter that water?" (We'd been passing a series of beaver dams all along the stream that day.) He replied, "No, the water's fine." Well, I was really thirsty and didn't have a way to treat the water myself, so I drank the lemonade and was alright. Nevertheless, I think it was irresponsible of him to have done that.
All right, Scott, perhaps "pretty forcefully" was a bit hyperbolic.
Your "Bob Marshall Wilderness lemonade" story was quite amusing. Once I backpacked into the Grand Canyon down the Hermit Trail with a friend who was so thirsty by the time we passed a spring-fed water trough that he pursed his lips to the surface and drank before I could warn him about Giardia. When we looked into the water we saw tadpoles swimming there.
