It's always nice to have the trail to ourselves, especially on such a beautiful day.
This sounded and looked like a wonderful hike.
The image of the aspens against the sky is, of course, striking!
Was the milepost damaged by bears or just weathered? In upstate Pennsylvania, such damage likely would be the result of porcupines chewing away at the wood after someone's sweaty palms had deposited a seemingly insignificant slick of salt.

Thanks for the compliments. Much appreciated. Hard to say about the mile marker; these things are pretty ancient, but it does appear to be chewed up pretty good. I'm going to blame some hungry hiker who made the mistake of doing the entire 30 miles of the Rim Trail without carrying enough provisions.
