96%

Out of the Monte Vista parking area
The title of the post refers to the percentage of humidity in the air when Dr. K, Becca and I set out for Tortugas Mountain this morning, the result of a nearly all-day rain event yesterday.  There's a chance of more precipitation today, but we were able to do an extra-long hike without feeling even a drop.  The sky was dynamic, as it often is in the desert after inclement weather.  We encountered quite a few other outdoor enthusiasts during our trek, but most encounters came while we were following the trail closest to the base of the mountain.  Once into the outback we were on our own.

I've never seen a dove that white--I wonder what kind it was. Very pretty.

The contrast of the white clouds and the deep blue sky is very dramatic; nice images. When I find a plastic bottle like you did, it's often filled with an off-colored fluid. I always want to recycle plastic, but sometimes I just toss such bottles in the trash. The bottles around here could have been used as chewing tobacco spittoons, for urine, or for goodness knows what. The dove you photographed isn't an albino because it's got some color and its eyes aren't red. The dove may be an example of leutism, which is another type of pigmentation problem; we currently have a very photogenic piebald deer here on the preserve with leutism.

Leutism, huh? That's interesting. Have to do some research on that. Thanks.
